Aim of Qualification: |
|
Graduates will have a specialised understanding of improving health and wellbeing in our communities, exhibit well-developed skills in critical and creative thinking in health subjects, and communicate complex ideas effectively and accurately in a range of health-related areas. They will be adept in their roles and in their interactions with colleagues and clients, and they will work collaboratively with health sector professionals and others to improve health and wellbeing in our communities. Graduates will be independent thinkers who are open to the ideas of others, have well developed communication skills and are able to continuously update their practice by managing their own learning and continuing professional development. They will understand and demonstrate intellectual integrity and the ethics of scholarship, as well as health ethics, and be active and engaged global citizens who demonstrate international perspectives on health. Graduates will be able to continue onto postgraduate study in Health or progress into employment in a variety of health sector roles. |

In the first year, five core courses provide the foundation for the BHlth programme and introduce students to the concepts of health and wellbeing, health policy and services, statistical analysis and an introduction to basic human biology, anatomy and physiology. In the second year students complete two further core courses and advance their study of their major(s). In the final year students complete either a research project or an internship relevant to their major and complete the requirements of their major(s). |

A combination of examinations and assignments, including essays, presentations and in-class tests, a report on a research project or an internship and, for those completing the Health Psychology major, laboratory assignments. |
